- Shelia Matteson Stager was an incredible woman who made an impact on countless people throughout her life.
- Shelia graduated from the Mountainside Hospital School in 1962. She went on to work on the surgical ortho floor at St. Clares Hospital in Denville, New Jersey, retiring forty-one years later. Shelia dedicated herself to helping and serving others. She lost her husband, Bill, in 2010 after forty-eight years of marriage. Shelia cared for him until the end. Shelia had three children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
- This scholarship seeks to honor the life and legacy of Shelia Matteson Stager by supporting students who are pursuing careers in nursing.
- “Doing easily what others find difficult is talent; doing what is impossible for talent is genius.”
- Any undergraduate or graduate student studying nursing with at least a 3.75 GPA or higher may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they’re a single parent.
