Who Can Apply:
- Broadening participation in the STEM enterprise will lead to the expansion of STEM capabilities and enhance the innovative capacity throughout a multitude of industries.
- Unfortunately, the Black community has been represented to a lesser degree in STEM compared to the general population. Lower participation amongst our community signals a lack of diversity in the workplace, which negatively impacts productivity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
- Black students earn just 7% of all STEM degrees. Some concentrations have seen even lower representation, such as engineering, where Black students account for approximately 5% of all degrees held.
- This scholarship seeks to boost the representation of people of color in the STEM field to create a more diverse and equitable workforce.
- Any African American high school senior or undergraduate student who is pursuing a degree in STEM may apply for this scholarship.
