Who Can Apply:
- There are certain challenges that come with being a first generation college student.
- Helping these students financially creates a fair society that allows people of all backgrounds to be successful. The creator of the scholarship, who was also a first generation college student, wishes to see other first generation students aim for a college education. Limiting the cost barrier helps with this goal. The Velez NJ Scholarship will support a BIPOC student in New Jersey who is a first generation college student.
- BIPOC high school seniors and undergraduate students are eligible to apply if they are first generation college students from New Jersey.
