- Vernon S. Lee, II, was a 1985 graduate of Petersburg High School and served as one of the assistant boys’ basketball team coaches.
- Vernon dedicated his entire career to education and uplifting the next generation. He coached, mentored, and guided students in several high schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia and at Virginia State University, encouraging them to chase their dreams and believe in themselves.
- This scholarship aims to honor the memory of Vernon S. Lee, II, by supporting students who share his devotion to athletics and academics.
- Any high school senior at Petersburg High School in Virginia may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they are an athlete (member of at least 1 sports team any time during high school) with at least a 2.5 GPA.
