Who Can Apply: The Brian Waterbury Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Brian Waterbury. He was a teacher and coach at San Luis Obispo High School for 30 years. He taught all levels of mathematics, but truly enjoyed the Honors Trigonometry course, as well as teaching Computer Science, Physics, and Physical Education.
He coached both boys and girls cross country and track, from 1973 through 1987, before heading to the District office for a few years, to run the District’s EdTech program. When he returned to teaching, he continued to stay involved in helping with track and cross country meets, or simply running with the team as a personal workout.
