Who Can Apply:
- Healing, whether physical, emotional, or communal, must be culturally informed and community-rooted.
- Presentation, access, and cultural understanding can transform outcomes in the high-stakes world of healthcare. When representation is lacking, as is often the case in healthcare, voices are often overlooked and ignored rather than being amplified and respected.
- This scholarship seeks to support students who are committed to advancing health equity, wellness, and medical care in underserved communities and populations by engaging in work rooted in empathy and cultural specificity.
- African American graduate students pursuing medicine, public health, mental health, nutrition, or wellness with at least a 3.0 GPA are encouraged to apply, especially those focusing on women’s health. However, applicants attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities are preferred. Beyond academic focus, the candidate should bring lived experience and cultural insight to their field—whether through personal background, community engagement, or a deep understanding of the unique challenges facing Black communities in healthcare and wellness spaces.
