Who Can Apply:
- Many students don’t have access to standard scholarship opportunities due to difficult academic standards or other barriers.
- When students aren’t provided with the financial aid they need, a gap opens between them and the educational futures of their dreams. Education should be accessible to all, especially students from Gold Star families (families that have lost a member in the line of duty in the armed forces). Gold Star families have sacrificed so much, often resulting in a diminished ability to help their children access higher education.
- This scholarship seeks to honor and support Gold Star families by uplifting students who are preparing to finish high school and pursue further education.
- Any low-income high school senior from a Gold Star Family may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they have at least a 2.5 GPA. However, students who live in manufactured houses or subsidized housing, applicants who are the children of farmers or truck drivers, and/ or students from single-parent homes are preferred. Applicants from North Carolina are also encouraged to apply.
Submission: To apply, submit a short essay telling us about your loved one who passed away in the line of duty, as well as your family and background.
