Award Is Open To: HS Seniors who rank in the top 25% of their class and score 1200 or higher in their SAT or 27 or better on their ACT.

Educational Benefits for Children of Deceased Veterans and Others

Amount: Tuition and fees at a Delaware public college; adjusted for other colleges;
Awards per Year: Varies.

Student Attends School In: Delaware
Parent Employment: Law Enforcement
Military Service:
Person serving: Parent.
Other Descriptors: MIA, POW, Deceased.
Other Comments: Parent of the applicant must be a deceased in service, POW, or MIA veteran, or a police officer killed in the line of duty. Applicants must be between 16 and 24 years of age and be a full- or part-time student at a state-supported institution. Applications must be completed four weeks before classes begin.

Christa McAuliffe Teacher Incentive Program

Amount: At least $1,000;
Awards per Year: Up to 50;
The Award Is: Renewable;

Other Dates: Recipients are determined by July 1.

Award Is Open To: HS Seniors, All Undergrads
Majors/Fields of Study: Education
GPA: 2.75
Class Rank Percentile: Top 50%

Student Plans To Attend: Wilmington College, Delaware State University, Goldey-Beacom College, University of Delaware, Wesley College, Widener University
Other Comments: This is a merit-based loan for students pursuing a teaching certificate and is renewable for up to four years. The loan is repaid through teaching service in Delaware, preferably in an area lacking enough teachers. Applicants must score 1050 or higher on the SAT or 25 or higher on the ACT. High school seniors must graduate in the upper half of their class; undergraduate students must maintain a 2.75 GPA or better with 12 or more credit hours. Amount: Loan not to exceed cost of tuition, fees, and other direct educational expenses.

Other Comments: This merit-based loan must be repaid by at least one year of nursing service at a Delaware hospital. Applicants can be pursuing an Associate Degree in nursing or Registered Nurse diploma. There are four awards for Bachelor of Science degrees, one for Adult Practical Nurse diploma, and one for Licensed Practical Nurse diploma.
