Amount: This is a $3,000 award, renewable up to four years for academic programs and up to three years for professional-technical programs.

Award Is Open To: Graduating seniors of an Idaho high school
Majors/Fields of Study: All Majors

Residency: Idaho
Student Attends School In: Enroll as a full-time student in an academic or technical program at an Idaho college or university (and take the ACT or SAT if enrolling in an academic program)
Other Comments: High consideration for selection will be based on a demonstrated commitment to public service. Documentation of volunteer work, leadership, and public service is required.

Idaho Opportunity Scholarship

Amount: Varies
Awards per Year: Varies
The Award Is: Based on financial need and renewable.
Deadline: March 1
Who Is Eligible?

  • Have an unweighted, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Be an Idaho resident
  • Be a graduate from an Idaho high school or its equivalent (GED from Idaho)
  • Complete the State Board of Education scholarship application by March 1
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to March 1
  • Accept all federal grant aid that is made available
  • Enroll as a full-time undergraduate student at Lewis-Clark State College, University of Idaho, Boise State University, Idaho State University, Brigham Young University-Idaho, Northwest Nazarene University, or College of Idaho; OR enroll at least quarter-time at College of Western Idaho, College of Southern Idaho, Eastern Idaho Technical College, or North Idaho College
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress for financial aid purposes. See program rules for more details.

Other Comments: The purpose of this scholarship is to help talented students who may be at risk of failing to realize their ambitions. Armed Forces and Public Safety Officer ScholarshipScholarships

Amount: Provides a waiver of fees plus up to $500 per semester for books in addition to on-campus housing

Who Is Eligible?

  • The spouse or children of Idaho citizens determined by the federal government to have been prisoners of war, missing in action, or killed in action or died of injuries or wounds sustained in any area of armed conflict in which the United States is a party.
  • Any spouse or child of any member of the armed forces of the United States who is stationed in the state of Idaho on military orders and who is deployed from the state of Idaho to any area of armed conflict in which the United States is a party and who has been determined by the federal government to be a prisoner of war or missing in action; or to have died of, or become totally and permanently disabled by, injuries or wounds sustained in action as a result of such deployment.
  • Any spouse or child of a full-time or part-time public safety officer (peace officer or firefighter, paramedic or EMT), employed by or volunteering for the state of Idaho or for a political subdivision of the state of Idaho, which public safety officer is or was a resident of the state of Idaho at the time such officer was killed or totally and permanently disabled in the line of duty as determined by the United States social security administration. The death or disability shall have occurred on or after January 1, 1975.

Award Is Open To: HS Seniors. For dependents of fallen or permanently disabled members of the armed forces or public safety officers

Other Comments: Awardees must attend an Idaho public college or university and meet all requirements for regular admission. Educational benefits shall not exceed a total of thirty-six (36) months or four (4) nine (9) month periods.

GEAR UP Idaho Scholarship

Amount: Awards will range from $0 to the equivalent of that year’s maximum Pell grant award and is renewable for up to four years.

Who Is Eligible?

To qualify for the scholarship, a student must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be less than 22 years old at time they first receive their scholarship award.
  • Be a graduating senior of an Idaho high school participating in GEAR UP
  • Enroll as a full-time undergraduate student at North Idaho College, Lewis-Clark State College, College of Southern Idaho, Eastern Idaho Technical College, University of Idaho, Boise State University, Idaho State University, Brigham Young University-Idaho, Northwest Nazarene University, The College of Idaho, or College of Western Idaho
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to February 15
  • Apply for the GEAR UP scholarship in the same year as their graduation from high school.

Tschudy Family Scholarship

Amount: $2,500
Awards per Year: 5
The Award Is: Based on financial need and academic performance
Deadline: February 15
Who Is Eligible?

  • Be an Idaho resident
  • Be a graduating Emmett High School senior or have graduated within the last seven years from Emmett High School
  • Enroll as a full-time academic student (at least 14 credit hours) at BSU, ISU, LCSC or UI
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.6 or above
  • Comply with all the provisions of the Tschudy Family Scholarship
  • Submit scholarship application by February 15
  • All applicants must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 15
