The veteran must have died in the line of duty or from a wartime disability, or be rated 100% permanently disabled. A deceased veteran must have been a Louisiana resident for at least one year before entering service. A veteran suffering from a 100% disability must have resided in Louisiana for at least two years at the inception of this benefit. The surviving spouse has no age limit but must use the benefit within 10 years. The student must attend school full-time. To apply, contact your local Parish Veterans Service Office. Applications must be certified by a Veterans Assistance Counselor.
