Who Can Apply:
- The GKD Advancement in STEM Scholarship Fund was established to celebrate the extraordinary legacy of a remarkable man whose passion for engineering and technology inspired all who knew him. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, George W. Paris dedicated his life to advancing the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). His creativity, curiosity, and commitment to innovation not only transformed his own career but also sparked enthusiasm in countless young minds.
- While science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are rapidly growing fields boasting incredible career opportunities, not all students are able to take advantage of the benefits of STEM jobs. Black students are often discouraged from pursuing STEM programs, with a lack of representation reinforcing the disparities in the field.
- This scholarship seeks to support students who are passionate about pursuing education in STEM and making an impact through their work.
- Any Black or African American high school senior in Garland, Texas, who is pursuing STEM may apply for this scholarship opportunity.
