There’s an upcoming scholarships application deadline for the Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars Program. Get your application turned in by the deadline per information available online at http://www.jkcf.org/scholarships/young-scholars-program/. Who is this award for? The Foundation gives money from this program to young high academic achievers with financial need. If given the guidance and resources these students can achieve true greatness.
Here’s some application information to consider. First, students apply while they’re in 7th grade, begin the Young Scholars program in 8th grade, and continue through their high school years.
In a typical year at least 1,000 7th graders in the U.S. apply to enter the Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars Program but only 75 students are selected each year (estimate). The key to be selected is pretty straightforward: you need to demonstrate true academic excellence and a history of extracurricular activities, such as community service. Financial need is another important criteria. According to the Young Scholars website (link above) the average family income for those entering the program is in the neighborhood of $25,000, and over more than 90 percent have incomes below $60,000.
