Who Can Apply: In 2017, Joseph Nystrom was working his way through college when his life was cut short by a drunk driver. This scholarship is intended to honor his memory by assisting working students as they return to college or remain enrolled in post-secondary education until graduation. The family’s purpose in creating the scholarship is to provide funding for adult students who want to finish their college degrees.
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
- Residency Requirements: Residents of Alamance, Chatham, Durham, Orange, or Wake counties
- High School Restrictions: None
- Plan of Study Restrictions: This scholarship is restricted to students working at least part-time and who have been enrolled in a degree program for at least two semesters in the past three years.
- Preference will be given to students who have overcome barriers to pursuing post-secondary education, including but not limited to medical barriers. Only students pursuing undergraduate degrees will be eligible.
