Another week has come and gone. How many scholarships did you apply for this week? If you are still on the hunt for one or two more scholarships, I have three great possibilities for you this week.
As you know, each Friday at the Financial Aid Finder, I post about three hot scholarship opportunities with upcoming deadlines.
This week, I have $1,000 for students studying transportation, $3,000 for students interested in pursuing a career in parapsychology, and a $1,000 scholarship lottery sponsored by Scholarships.com.
If you want to search for even more scholarships, your best bet is to use a free scholarship search page. But first, check out our own scholarship searches so you can be sure to avoid a scam! Our scholarship section also has plenty of helpful articles on everything from the scholarship application process to writing winning scholarship essays to the truth about unclaimed scholarships.
1. American Association of Railroad Superintendents Frank J. Richter Scholarship Program: $1,000
The American Association of Railroad Superintendents (AARS) provides annual scholarships for North American students enrolled as full-time undergraduate or graduate students in an accredited college or university. Preference is given to those applicants enrolled in the transportation field, although all applicants will be considered. All applicants must at least be sophomores with a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. The application deadline is July 1.
2. The Annual Eileen J. Garrett Scholarship: $3,000
Now here’s a scholarship you don’t see everyday. The Parapsychology Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation, which supports the scientific investigation of psychic phenomena. The foundation annually awards one $3000 scholarship to assist a student attending an accredited college or university and studying the science of parapsychology. Applicants must include a sampling of their past writings on the subject of parapsychology and letters of recommendation from three people familiar with their work and commitment to parapsychology. The application deadline is July 15. The winner will be notified by August 1st.
3. Tell a Friend Scholarship from Scholarships.com: $1,000
If you are tired of writing essays and filling in lengthy applications, then this scholarship lottery is perfect for you. Just like the Powerball, your chances of winning this Tell a Friend lottery are not especially high. But then you don’t have to do much to get yourself entered, so why not give it a shot? If you are not already a member of Scholarships.com, just join for free and then recommend that your friends do the same. For every friend that signs up as a result of your recommendation, both you and your friend get a shot at $1,000 of free money for school. The more people you refer to the site, the more lottery tickets you get!
Good luck with your applications this week!
