Scholarship Name: National Beef Ambassador Program
Description: This contest combines two vastly different areas: Public speaking and cattle. The purpose of the contest is to encourage young people to learn about the cattle and beef industry while becoming better public speakers. Like many public speaking contests, students must first compete on the state level, then proceed to nationals to qualify for the prize of $5,000 to help pay for college. The American National Cattlewomen Foundation also awards some additional scholarships to outstanding competitors. Students are asked to prepare speeches promoting the beef industry and also participate in a media question and answer exercise.

Words that Shook the World
Scholarship Name: National High School Public Speaking Competition
Description: The Words that Shook the World Competition is a unique opportunity to win scholarship money by putting their ideas about the environment into words, art and music. Open to New York City High School students, the scholarship contest asks students for their ideas about the environment to be presented as either a speech, or through art or music. The art and music competition is named for recording artist Jason Mraz, who actually does the judging. To participate in the competition, you must attend a school with a participating teaching who will guide you through the process. You will present your ideas in video form, and submit the video for quarter-final consideration. The top 100 videos will be chosen to move on, and four first prizes of $5,000 will be awarded, as well as smaller 2nd – 5th place prizes in Technology, Public Policy, Art & Music and Eating and Health.
