Description: With the mission of Walden University being “positive social change” it follows that their hallmark scholarship program would be the Commitment to Social Change scholarship. The scholarship is available to new doctoral and master’s students at Walden University who show a commitment to research and activity that promotes social change. Awards are disbursed every term, up to $4,000 per term for a total of up to $25,000 for complete study (that cap is lower for master’s students).

Scholarship Name: The Bailey Family Foundation Scholarship Program
Description: The Bailey Family Foundation awards a small number of partial scholarships to graduating high school seniors who will attend any of the participating universities (located mostly in the southeastern United States). Some of these participating schools include online universities like Devry University and Strayer University, as well as smaller four year and two year colleges and universities. Like many scholarships from family foundations, the funds can only be used towards tuition, but $5,000 is a significant amount of scholarship money, particularly for online degrees, which tend to be less expensive. Applications go through an extensive review process, and all materials can be submitted online directly at the Bailey Family Foundation website.
