Women’s Independence Scholarship Program
Scholarship Name: Change Your World Scholarship
Description: The Women’s Independence Scholarship Program supports women who have been victim’s of partner abuse, with a particular emphasis on serving those women with young children. The fund offers financial support in the form of scholarships for women with an urgent need, and who will be pursuing undergraduate, vocational or other training programs. Women should have been away from their abusive partner for at least one year, and at most five years (although there are exceptions). The majority of funding is earmarked for undergraduate study but in some cases graduate funding is available as well. Applications are accepted for both the spring and fall semesters on an ongoing basis. In addition to the scholarship, the program also requires that students participate in mentorships from non-profit organizations that specialize in services for victims of domestic abuse.
