Description: The Cpl. Christopher Kelly Willis Foundation honors a soldier who died in Paw Paw, Michigan grants scholarships to children of soldiers who were either KIA of disabled during combat. High school seniors or students currently attending college or vocational school can apply to the foundation for scholarships, or parents and guardians of young children can apply for funds to be put away for their child’s education. Description: As the name suggests, ThanksUSA looks to honor the men and women who serve in our nations armed forces through a scholarship program for their spouses and children. Each year, more than 10,000 students apply for scholarships from ThanksUSA to be used towards tuition and both two- and four-year colleges and universities, or to vocational and licensure programs (for spouses only). Applicants must submit proof of active duty service by their parent guardian or spouse, and should submit a short personal statement about future academic and career goals. Financial need is taken into account when scholarships are awarded, but it is not necessarily the determining factor. The scholarship committee also considers special or unusual family circumstances when granting awards. Preference is given to students whose parents or spouses were disabled or killed in action.
