Scholarship Name: Children’s Art Project (CAP) Scholarship Program
Description: Sometimes you never know what kind of scholarships you can find on the local level. The CAP Scholarship Program is one of those scholarships that seeks to help a very specific group of people with money for college. Scholarships through the CAP program are available to former pediatric patients on the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center; students must have been treated (or are currently being treated) by the Pediatric Cancer Center before their 19th birthday. Sponsored by the center’s Children’s Art Program, which uses the art of pediatric cancer patients to raise funds for the hospital, the program awards both undergraduate and graduate scholarships each year.

Seneca Diabetes Foundation
Scholarship Name: Bryan and Deanna Snyder, Sr.’s Chairman Scholarship
Description: The Seneca Diabetes Foundation serves two populations, those people of the Seneca Tribal Nation who are living with diabetes. Diabetes affects Native Americans more than any other group, and through the Chairman’s Scholarship (along with many other scholarship programs offered by the Seneca Diabetes Foundation), the Foundation seeks to raise awareness of this important health issue as well provide resources to a generation of future leaders who will go into fields that will benefit not on the Seneca Nation, but the country as a whole. Scholarships are also awarded to nursing students, Native American history majors and those involved in community service.
