Alisa Flatow Memorial Scholarship Fund
Scholarship Name: Alisa Flatow Memorial Scholarship
Description: All too often, scholarship funds are set up to honor those who have died under tragic circumstances, and at too young an age. This is especially true for the Alisa Flatow Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was established in memory of Alisa Flatow, a student who went abroad to Israel to pursue Jewish studies and was killed by a suicide bomber. Through the scholarship, the family hopes to encourage more American students to study within Israel. Only post-high school study abroad is eligible, but studies do not have to earn college credit. Students must demonstrate a commitment to religious studies, and show financial need, in order to qualify for the scholarship. The fund is intended for those students who were not able to find other financial means to study in Israel. While the exact amount of the awards is not disclosed, the scholarship’s intention is to provide enough funding for one year of study.
