Scholarship Name: LeRoi Moore Fund Scholarship (4/20/12 – Award no longer being offered)
Description: In honor of the late LeRoi Moore, the Dave Matthews Band saxophonist who died in 2008, his foundation has created a number of college scholarships for students in North Carolina. The types of scholarships follow the musicians life through North Carolina, with one being given to music students at his alma mater Albermarle High School, students at North Carolina Central University, where his parents studied, and nursing students at the University of Virginia School of Nursing. Moore was treated at the University of Virginia Medical Center, and wished to give back to the nurses who helped him.
Award: $2,500 – $5,000

American Harlequin
Scholarships Name: Dance Scholarship Program
Description: American Harlequin, a leader maker of dance floors and related dance necessities, hosts a different kind of scholarship program. The Dance Scholarship Program seeks to make it easier for dancers (and American Harlequin customers) to be able to afford performing arts school. But rather than award the $25,000 in scholarship money to the most talented dancers, or those with the most financial need, American Harlequin holds a random contest drawing each year to decide who will get this free money for college. You must already be enrolled in dance school to qualify for this scholarship.
