Scholarship Name: Patient Advocate Foundation’s Scholarship for Survivors
Description: As a young person living with a life threatening illness, you are no doubt prevented with many challenges, including doctors visits, emotional distress and equally as important, medical bills. To recognize the adversity that people under the age of 25 face, especially those who plan on attending college, the Patient Advocate Foundation created the Scholarship for Survivors. Eligible students should be a survivor, or be currently diagnosed with cancer or another life-threatening illness (and must submit written documentation from their physician), and should already be accepted to college, university or technical school. Students must also demonstrate financial need to qualify for the award.

Spina Bifida Association
Scholarship Name: Spina Bifida Association Scholarship
Description: The Spina Bifida Association offers one to the only scholarship opportunities specifically for students with spina bifida, a disease affecting the spine which leaves most of those afflicted dependent upon a wheelchair and with limited mobility. To qualify for the Spina Bifida Association Scholarship, students must have a disability certification from their physician, and must already be accepted to a four-year college, vocational school or business school. While each scholarship is only awarded for one year, students can continue to apply for awards as long as they are enrolled in school. The scholarship committee will consider financial need, academic record, leadership potential and community service when reviewing applications. The Spina Bifida Association is the leading provider of services and other resources for people living with all types of spina bifida.
