Grand Slam for Youth
Scholarship Name: Memorial Grand Slam for Youth Baseball Scholarship
Description: Minute Maid and the Houston Astros have teamed up to offer local Texas students scholarships to help offset college expenses. Twenty-five students annually are chosen to participate in the annual Grand Slam. Five scholarship recipients receive $5,000 for college, while the rest receive $1,000 awards. The scholarships committee gives some preference to students who are the first in their families to go to college, and some emphasis is placed on financial need. Each year, the scholarship fund grows, and plans are to continue to increase the number of students who receive scholarships through the Grand Slam.

Texas Tennis and Education Foundation
Scholarship Name: Texas Tennis and Education Foundation Scholarships
Description: The Texas Tennis and Education Foundation gives a number of named scholarships each year to local students who play tennis and are pursuing higher education. Each scholarship is named for a local athlete who changed lives through tennis, either by teaching or inciting passion for the game. Students with financial need should apply for scholarships, and should also have a commitment to continuing to pursue tennis even after high school graduation and through college.
