Scholarship Name: Seuss "Oh, The Places You’ll Go" Scholarship Program
Description: If you are approaching high school or college graduation, you’ve probably read (or at least heard of) a book called "Oh, The Places You’ll Go" by children’s author Dr. Seuss. In the spirit of Dr Seuss’ classic, Random House offers and annual essay contest to high school seniors. Students are asked to submit an original essay describing the challenges that they will face as part of their higher education journey. This scholarship essay contest offers and award of $5,000 for the essay that most effectively captures the spirit of "Oh, The Places We’ll Go". You can only submit one essay, and it must be your original work.

J.D. Salinger Award (Ursinus College)
Scholarship Name: J.D. Salinger Award
Description: If you’ve ever thought about what it would be like to walk in the footsteps of the author who brought us Holden Caulfield and The Glass Family, you might consider the J.D. Salinger Award. This unusual scholarship is offered by Ursinus College (Salinger’s Alma Mater), and in addition to a $30,000 per year scholarship award, the winner will live in the very same dorm room as Salinger himself! The J.D. Salinger Award is a creative writing award, and students should submit a porfolio of 10 pages of original work. This is a highly competitive award, so the work that you submit should truly represent your voice and originality as a writer.
