Scholarships Name: Jesse Brown Scholarship
Description: This scholarship from the Disabled American Veterans is named for former Secretary of Veteran Affairs Jesse Brown, who was injured while serving in the Marine Corps in Vietnam. The program awards scholarships to young people (under 21) who actively volunteer with the Disabled Veterans Association in any capacity (this includes volunteer nursing, social work, and direct care). The awards are intended to ease the burden of students who are looking to continue their education after an absence, or to obtain a trade of vocational degree.

The Heart of America Foundation
Scholarships Name: Christopher Reeve Award
Description: This scholarship, named for actor and national figure Christopher Reeve, recognizes remarkable young people (under 18) who demonstrate outstanding caring and service to their communities. Youth must be nominated to be eligible for the award, and those who nominate them are ask to speak to what really sets them apart as a caring member of society. Awardees are students who have demonstrated a commitment to volunteer work, specifically a strong relationships with a particular organization or cause.
