Scholarship Name: YouthLaunch Scholarship for Outstanding Service
Description: YouthLaunch is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting young people through service. The organization’s scholarship program was created in 2001 to raise the profile of youth service through a non-renewable $3,000 scholarship for Texas high school students. Each scholarship winner will also enjoy an all-expenses paid trip to Austin, Texas for him or her, plus up to three of his or her guests, for a scholarship luncheon. Eligible candidates must have attended a Texas high school, be graduating between May 2009 and June 2010, and plan to attend a post-secondary institution within one year of graduation. Additionally, all applicants must have completed at least 50 hours of service during their senior year of high school and a minimum of 400 hours of service during all years of high school.

Alliant Energy

Scholarship Name: Alliant Energy Community Service Scholarship
Description: Many students who are looking for scholarships for average grades can find money for college may find success with scholarships for community service and volunteering like the Alliant Energy Community Service Scholarship Program. While the scholarship committee does consider your grade point average and standardized test scores, more important is your participation in local community service activities, and taking on a leadership role in these activities. Scholarships are awarded to students who live in areas (mostly the Midwest) where Alliant Energy operates. Students will also need to submit a short (300 word) essay about their service experience.
