Scholarship Name: American Express Scholarship
Description: Promoting the hotel and lodging industry is definitely in the best interest of American Express, a major financial services company that markets many of its services to travelers. That’s why American Express teamed up with the American Hotel & Lodging Education Foundation to offer scholarships to hotel employees and their dependents. These scholarships are open to both Associate and Bachelor degree students, and award amounts vary from $500 (for part time Associate students) to $2,000 (for full time Bachelor) studying hospitality. To be eligible, the students (or student’s parent or guardian) must work at least 20 hours per week at an American Hotel and Lodging member hotel.

Scholarship Name: Tyson Team Member Essay Contest
Description: Tyson, Inc., synonymous with frozen, fried chicken, is rewarding bright young students of it’s team members (employees) with an annual essay contest, which has a $2,500 award for college. Not only can students earn a scholarship, but winning essay-writers also get a brand-new laptop computer to take with them to school! Students should submit an essay about technology as it relates to food production. More specific writing prompts for the essay contest are available at on the Tyson website. The essay should be no longer than 3 pages (including bibliography) and should be about 1,000 words in length. All submissions should be sponsored by an academic advisor (teacher or guidance counselor), and submitted directly through the Tyson website.
