Description: While Valero gas stations might not be as omnipresent as Exxon/Mobil or BP (but they are North America’s largest oil refiner!), the Fortune 500 company certainly has a big reach for its scholarships for college students. The Valero Energy Foundation (the charitable arm of Valero Energy) has established a number of scholarships for all types of students across the county. The most recent addition is for engineering students through a partnership with Lamar University (part of the University of Texas, San Antonio), which is located close to Valeros’ San Antonio, Texas headquarters. In addition to these local scholarships, Valero’s more general scholarship program offers undergraduate students awards of $1,000 to pursue degrees in any field that they choose. Students should reside in an area that is served by Valero Energy or one of its affiliates.

Scholarship Name: Archer Daniels Midland Future Farmers of America Scholarship
Description: As the world’s largest corn processor, Archer Daniels Midland has a fairly big interest in the next generation of agricultural leaders. In fact, they have teamed up with the Future Farmers of America (FFA) in order to make sure that students looking to study the agricultural sciences have the funding that they need to complete both two and four year programs of study. Archer Daniels Midland sponsors a number of scholarships of $1,000 each at FFA organizations on a state-by-state basis. Interested students should be accepted into local colleges and universities for studies related to the agricultural sciences and farming, and should be active members of the FFA throughout their high school careers.
