Publix Supermarkets
Scholarship Name: Publix Scholarships
Description: A major supermarket chain is usually pretty ubiquitous in the area it serves, and Publix is not exception. Serving the southeastern United States (especially the Florida coasts), the customer-oriented grocer is rapidly growing. Almost as ubiquitous as the stores themselves are Publix’s scholarship opportunities for students. Publix sponsors scholarships through a number of universities in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina. Many of these scholarships are administered through the universities themselves. In addition to these school scholarships, as well as the tuition assistance provided by Publix to its employees, Publix also offers a Pharmacy School Assistance Program. The supermarket identifies outstanding associates (you must be a Publix employee for at least 90 continuous days to be eligible for assistance) and offers them $2,500 per semester for pharmacy school. That’s up to $20,000 in free college money for a four-year program! Students must remain active associates at Publix to keep the scholarship (which means 30 hours every 6 months), maintain a C average, and be enrolled in school full time.
