Description: Like many large Fortune 500 companies, Marathon Oil has decided to team up with a heavy-hitter in the world of scholarships for people who have been historically under-represented in colleges and universities the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Marathon Oil has chosen to focus it’s $15,000 annual awards for undergraduate and graduate students on business-related majors and areas of study. This makes sense, given that the goal of the scholarship program is to help prepare future business leaders for careers with the growing corporation. The scholarship also offers a scholarship for Master’s-level study in a surprising area Geology. These highly competitive and generous scholarships require that all applicants have at least a 3.0 GPA, but students of various backgrounds – Native American, African-American, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Latino – are eligible to apply.

Scholarship Name: UTC Enduring Scholarship Program (5/16/12 – Scholarship Discontinued)
Description: United Technologies Corporation, a company that ranks #37 on the Fortune 500 list, but that you’ve probably never heard, is offering a number of college scholarships to employees and children of employees. UTC is one of those companies that is actually behind many of the technological advances that we take for granted everyday. Each time you take an Otis elevator or use a Carrier heather air conditioner, you are a part of United Technologies Corporation (also known as UTC). But for those who are really a part of UTC, the employees, UTC offers an opportunity to earn some extra scholarship money for college through the UTC Enduring Scholarship Program. The company offers scholarships of up to $3,000 to students pursuing full time study at an undergraduate institution, and considers academic standing, leadership, community service and career aspirations as part of the application.
