Scholarship Name: Frank Kazmierczak Memorial Migrant Scholarship
Description: The BOCES Geneseo Migrant Center offers a scholarship that combines two very specific student characteristics: family ties to migrant farming, and a passion to pursue teaching. Students who have parents or guardians involved in migrant farming, who have a record of scholastic achievement, and who have a real interest in pursuing teaching and education as a career are eligible to apply for the $1,000 college scholarship. The award is named as a tribute to Frank Kazmierczak, an advocate for education for migrant workers. The scholarship recipient will be invited to attend the annual National Migrant Education Conference to accept the award.

Scholarship Name: Teacher Quest Scholarship Program
Description: The Brown Foundation (which includes the Brown Foundation Scholarship Program for Equality and Excellence) is so named for the landmark Brown vs. the Board of Education case that ended the legal segregation of schools on the basis of race. The foundation was established in 1988 as a tribute to the attorneys involved in the case. The foundation has been awarding scholarships to minority students in the field of education since 1989. Eligible students must be attending an institute of higher learning with an accredited teaching program, and must be enrolled at least half-time. The Teacher Quest Scholarship Program seeks to foster diversity in the field of education through equality of opportunity for education students of all ethnicities. Students interested in this scholarship for education majors should be specifically interested in teaching children in grades K-12, and should have a GPA of at least 3.0.
