Political Science Scholarships

For a select few, the road that begins with a political science degree leads straight to the White House! But for the rest of us, studying political science can lead to careers in law, federal service, journalism and other political fields.

The key to finding a great job in political science is getting a great education.

But a college education can often cost more than you can afford to pay on your own. Many great organizations that want to encourage civic-minded students to pursue degrees have created scholarships for political science majors.

With so many different college and career options to choose from, you’ll find a lot of information about political science scholarships from a variety of organizations.

The American Political Science Association grants a number of scholarships and awards to students involved in research of electoral politics, education and public service. C-SPAN, the national political television network also offers political science scholarships to students in need in partnership with the United Negro College Fund.

In lieu of some of the more general “What are your goals?” and “What inspires you?” questions that many scholarship applications contain, many political science scholarship applications will ask you to review and interpret policy, either modern or historical. You can work with your teachers or professors to decide what kind of policy you might want to focus on, and this exploration will also help you to determine your concentration as a political science major.
