Scholarship Name: The Developmental Fund for Black Students in Science and Technology Scholarship
Description: This renewable scholarship provides up to $2,000 per year to African-American undergraduate students majoring in a scientific or technical field at one of twenty Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Winners are selected based on academic record, personal essay and demonstrated financial need. You must obtain an application from your science or engineering department and your school will pre-screen you. Scholarships are currently available for students attending the following colleges and universities:

* Elizabeth City State University
* Fisk University
* Florida A&M University
* Fort Valley State College
* Hampton University
* Howard University
* Livingston University
* Lincoln University (PA)
* Morgan State University

The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation
Scholarship Name: Goldwater Scholars
Description: The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation annually awards more than 300 scholarships to undergraduate sophomores and juniors majoring in math, science, engineering, and computer science. The Goldwater Scholarship, who are selected on the basis of their outstanding academic merit, receive one- or two-year scholarships to that cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500 per year. The federally endowed Goldwater Foundation aims to encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. Apply on line at the Goldwater Scholarship website. Applications are due in late January.
