Alliance for Young Artists and Writers
Scholarship Name: Scholastic Writing Awards
Description: Unlike many of the writing scholarship awards that we see, which require you to put pen to paper to answer a specific question or problem, the Scholastic Writings awards actually reward your original work, and all of the things that students writers might be working on. Students may submit portfolios of three to eight works of writing in any of the following categories: dramatic script, humor, journalism, personal essay/memoir, poetry, science fiction/fantasy, short story, short short story and novel writing. These are submitted on the regional level, and then 400 students are chosen to compete for scholarship awards on the national level. Students are then considered for a variety of national awards, which range from $1,000 notable mentions to full-ride scholarships to art school.
