Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority
Scholarship Name: Dedication to the Environment Scholarship
Description: Are you the guy encouraging your school to recycle? Or the gal who is teaching everyone about the wonders of composting? if so, the Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority (NTSWA) has a scholarship for you! The NTSWA is an organization looking for alternatives in waste management – from solid waste to landfills to recycling. Eligible students must be residents of Tioga, Sullivan or Bradford County, and should write an essay detailing their activities as they relate to waste management. The scholarships committee would like you to be as specific as possible – if you are passionate about newspaper recycling, don’t be afraid to spend your whole essay talking about it. The committee is looking for more than just an essay – they give a great table on their website that outlines just how much each part of the application – academics, essay, environmental dedication, extracurricular activities and application completeness – is worth. So make sure that you closely follow directions, and for your best chance of a scholarship, submit your materials on recycled paper!
