Scholarship Name: North American Wind Power Scholarship
Description: Alternative energy – things like solar, wind and nuclear power – is really gaining heavy exposure in the mainstream media, and on college campuses across the United States and all over the world. People are becoming more and more interested in ways that we can become less reliant on oil, and can treat our environment a little better than we may have in the past. If you are a high school student living in a community that has seen development in wind power, specifically through North American Wind Power, you could not only see the environmental benefits, but some financial benefits as well. North American Wind Power is offering high school seniors up to $5,000 a year in scholarships for college – that’s free money to pay tuition and buy books for all four years! The company is also offering 15 one-time scholarships of $3,000 to promising your students interested in the environmental and earth sciences and engineering. Students should have a GPA of at least 3.0, and will need to complete a 300-word essay.

Air and Waste Management Association – Coastal Plains Chapter
Description: Many students may not start out their undergraduate careers thinking about air and waste management, but many find out that a career in the field can be both lucrative and cutting edge. The Air & Waste Management Association is a nonprofit educational organization that is helping to develop leaders in the field. The Coastal Plains Chapter of the organization targets young people with their programs, offering modest scholarships to college students interested in environmental sciences. Students must be attending one of the following schools: The University of West Florida, Pensacola Junior College, Okaloosa-Walton Community College or Gulf Coast Community College. Each school maintains its own requirements and scholarship amounts for the Environmental Steward Scholarship.
