Scholarship Name: Icicle Seafoods Endowed Scholarships
Description: Icicle Seafoods has made a more than $200,000 endowment to enable students in the University of Alaska system to gain scholarships for college. In addition to their recently established scholarship at the University of Alaska – Kodiak Campus, the seafood distributor makes a number of other scholarships to various students in UA schools, including:
- KPCs Kachemak Bay Campus Scholarships for the Learning Resource Center
- Kodiak College – General support for students with the highest financial need
- University of Alaska Southeast – Scholarships for College Connection/Fish Technology classes for Petersburg High School students, and general scholarships for Petersburg residents
- University of Alaska Fairbanks – Scholarships for residents of the Bristol Bay region at the Bristol Bay Campus
Each scholarship varies in size, and has its own application requirements. Most can be applied for directly through the University of Alaska financial aid office.

How to Apply/Contact: The Icicle Seafoods scholarships are made directly to the University of Alaska. Therefore, most students are automatically considered for one of the scholarships if they apply to the school and meet the eligibility criteria. Central Coast Women for Fisheries, Inc.
Scholarship Name: Fishing Heritage Scholarships
Description: Icicle For people not living near the coasts of the United States or Canada, it might be easy to forget exactly what goes into putting fish on the plates of hungry people across the work. Most fisherman work long hours, and have to spend long periods of time away from their families and friends. To recognize and honor the efforts of off-shore fisherman in California, the Central Coast Women for Fisheries offers Fishing Heritage Scholarships to licensed commercial fisherman, their spouses and descendants. Students who have at least a 2.0 (C) are eligible to apply, and must enroll in school at least half time. The scholarships amount varies based on enrollment in a full-time undergraduate institution or in a vocational or technical school. Students must also submit letters of recommendation the Central Coast Women for Fisheries even gives some suggestions for local leaders to contact to write recommendations. Residents of San Luis Obispo receive priority in scholarship awards.
