The American Board of Family Medicine
Scholarship Name: Pisacano Leadership Foundation Scholarships
Description: By the time you’ve reached your fourth year of medical school, you could be more than $200,000 in debt. To offset some of these costs, and recruit promising medical students into the field of family medicine, the American Board of Family Medicine offers the Pisacano Leadership Foundation Scholarship. This four year program is offered to students at the end of their studies, and is designed to help with the process of paying back student loans as recipients enter their residency period. Unlike many medical school scholarships, the award can actually be applied to any expenses incurred during the three-year residency period (but a portion should go to paying back student loan debt). Award recipients are expected to enter family medicine as their specialty, and are chosen based on leadership potential, compassion and skill.
