Scholarship Name: Howard Penniman Scholarships for Graduate Study
Description: Political Science majors at universities across the country should be familiar with Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. In addition to providing networking and recognition opportunities, the society nominates 5 students per year to receive scholarship awards for graduate school studies. Students must be active participants in their local chapter, and nominated by the chapter advisors. The scholarship committee looks favorably upon those members who have clear goals for their advanced political science degree, and who have shown a commitment to the local community through volunteering with the local Pi Sigma Alpha Chapter. Students must be entering their first year of graduate study to qualify for the scholarship.

Public Policy and International Affairs Fellowship Program
Scholarship Name: PPIA Fellowship Program
Description: The Public Policy and International Affairs program is an excellent opportunity for current college juniors and rising seniors to lock-in funding for their graduate education. If you are a current student committed to public service, international relations and public policy, a PPIA fellowship provides you with access to a network of 3,000 alumni, a summer leadership training institute after your graduate and best of all at least $5,000 toward graduate studies in related fields. PPIA maintains a consortium of graduate schools which provide scholarship funding to PPIA fellows; awards vary from school to school (a complete list can be found on the PPIA website), with some offering as much as full tuition plus a living stipend. PPIA fellows are encouraged to take two years of work experience between graduation from undergraduate school and graduate school. Some participate in the PPIA summer institute to accelerate acceptance into graduate programs. Above all, a commitment to pursuing a public service career is essential for the program, and the benefits are endless.
