Scholarship Name: IIDA Sustainable Design Awards
Description: Combining interior design, community service and sustainability, the International Interior Design Association asks students each year to submit their ideas for buildings to be designed in such a way that it improves people’s lives. The IIDA’s Student Sustainable Design Competition accepts submissions from interior design students who prepare samples of their ideas for residential, retail or business centers that enhance the lives of the homeless and/or homebound. Cash prizes are available for the top three designs, and winning designs are featured on the IIDA website. There is a fee to enter the competition, but the fee is reduced for students who are members of the IIDA. In addition to the design competition, the IIDA also sponsors the Lloy Hack Essay Competition for student members participating in the IIDA Mentor Program. Students are asked to write an essay describing their mentoring experience, and can win a $1,000 prize.

YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund
Scholarship Name: Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship Award
Description: In partnership with the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund, which brings together influential members of the fashion and design community, clothing label Geoffrey Beene has donated $5,000,000 to help further the educational pursuits of deserving fashion design and merchandising students. These major awards of $25,000 are given in conjunction with internships with fashion designers and merchandisers. One $25,000 award per year is reserved for outstanding women’s wear design. In addition to these top awards, 80 students receive $5,000 awards through the Geoffrey Beene Scholars program. The awards are given through partnerships between the YMA and major design schools across the country. Students apply for scholarship in the junior year, and two students from each school will be consider for the National Scholars program.
