Scholarship Name: Dissertation Grants in Applied Law/Psychology
Description: Post-graduate study can be expensive for a number of reasons – high costs of tuition, books, and living arrangements all have to be paid for. But some costs that are often overlooked are dissertation costs – printing, travel and data collection. For those studying the ever growing field of forensic psychology, those are very real costs, and the American Academy of Forensic Psychologists created a scholarship to specifically cover these costs, with one of the only scholarship list on Financial Aid Finder that can’t actually be used for tuition! Students should submit their dissertation proposal for review, which will be judged using the following criteria:
- Potential contribution of the dissertation to applied law-psychology
- Methodological soundness/experimental design
- Budgetary needs, review of applicant’s personal statement
Each applicant should submit a cover letter outlining his/her career goals, a detailed budget and award request, and the timeline of the proposed dissertation.

American School Counselor Association
Scholarship Name: American School Counselor Association Scholarship
Description: LA major component of the psychology field is school counseling – those individuals who choose to focus on students who might not otherwise have access to counseling and interventions. In order to make paying for college easier for students pursuing psychology and counseling degrees, the American School Counselor Association sponsors an annual scholarship of up to $1,000 for graduate students. Students should be majoring in psychology or counseling at a graduate institution full time. While the scholarship funds are not specifically designated for minority students, those from traditionally underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply. In addition to the scholarship form, applicants should submit a two-page essay answering the following: How do school counselors utilize leadership, advocacy and collaboration to effect systemic change in schools to maximize student success? Two professional letters of recommendation are also required.
