Scholarship Name: The Catherine H. Beattie Fellowship
Description: If protecting the rare flora and fauna of the planet is your thing, you should check out the Center for Plant Conservation, which offers up to $4,000 for graduate students. Funding is available for research projects directly related to conservation; each applicant will submit a 2-3 page research proposal along with their application. The proposal should include complete budget information about the research project. Students should have the support of an academic adviser, who will need to write a formal letter of support to include with the application. During the research project, fellows will also be asked to write an article to be feature in the newsletter of the Center for Plant Conservation.

Description: Coastal wetlands conservation is an important issue facing many of today’s aspiring environmentalists. For students doing research in the field of wetlands restoration, there are scholarship opportunities available from the Garden Club of America. The $5,000 stipend is available to student scientists who are conducting their wetlands research in the field. Research project proposals will be reviewed by wetlands researchers from top universities in the United States.
