Description: Scholarships for medical school can seem few and far between, and with the high cost of a medical school education, every little bit helps. The Doctor Thomas P. and Edwina H. Devlin Medical Scholarship Fund offers a rare opportunity to medical and nursing students to apply for scholarships to help cover some of the costs of education. The modest awards of $400 – $1,000 vary each year depending on the contributions of the fund’s supporters. Students are chosen on the basis of their scholastic achievements and personal character, with some consideration also being given to financial need. Applicants must reside in Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Wilmington, Winchester, or Woburn, MA. Applicants should not apply for scholarship funding for pre-med or other health programs.

Description: Becoming a part of the armed forces has so many benefits, the most noteworthy of which (for people pursuing higher education) is the generous tuition reimbursement and scholarship programs. The Health Professions Scholarship Fund takes the GI Bill a step further by offering the Health Professions Scholarship Fund, individuals interested in entering qualified health professions (Doctors, Dentists, Optometrists and Physician’s Assistants) enroll in their medical school of choice while simultaneously enlisting in the Navy as an officer. To receive full benefits, students must receive their training and complete their residency through military hospitals, but you may choose to do your residency through a civilian program (without benefits) instead. Of course, both medical school and the Navy are huge commitments, but those interested in serving their country in two ways at once might be interested in this generous scholarship program.
