Scholarship Name: IFDA Educational Foundation Scholarship
Description: Did you ever wonder who came up with the idea for that cool sofa at the local coffee shop, or that funky coffee table at a friend’s house? Did you ever want to be the person who designed them? The International Furnishings and Design Association is the leading organization awarding scholarships to aspiring furniture and interior designers. The IFDA Educational Foundation offers scholarship in seven categories, including green/sustainable design, furniture design and marketing. They also make awards available for part-time students and graduate students. All students applying for IFDA/EF awards should have a letter of recommendation from a member of faculty, and be prepared to write a 300 word essay about short-term educational goals, and past activities that have led you to choose them. If you are active in volunteering and community service, your chances of getting a scholarship increase.

American Society of Interior Designers
Scholarship Name: American Society of Interior Designers Foundation
Description: The American Society of Interior Designers is a national organization bringing together American interior designers. Each year, the ASID Foundation offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students in interior design across a number of categories. The ASID Foundation looks for students both within and outside of traditional educational models. The Mabelle Wilhelmina Boldt Scholarship is reserved for students who have been out of school for at least five years before returning for a graduate degree in interior design, while the Yale R. Burge Competition is for students who are in the final year of their undergraduate work. Funds are also available to fund ongoing research projects in interior design and historic preservation.
Award: $750 – $2,000
