Scholarship Name: NFRW National Pathfinder Scholarship
Description: Established in honor of former first lady Nancy Reagan, the National Federation of Republican Women offers scholarship each year to young women pursuing careers related to substance abuse. The NFRW is committed to providing opportunities to young women in the Republican party, and the National Pathfinder Scholarship pays special attention to the needs of those suffering from substance abuse issues. In order to ease some of the burden that students face when gaining higher education relating to these professions, they offers scholarships of $5,000 every year to sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as master’s degree students. The scholarship awards are not renewable, and are only open to students at the sophomore level or above. Applicants should be prepared to write two essays – one about why you believe that you should receive the scholarship, and another about your career goals.

American Psychological Society
Scholarship Name: APS Student Research Award
Description: Students who are serious about pursuing studies in the field of psychology should be familiar with the American Psychological Society, and their annual conference. If you are a psychology student and are not already a member of the APS, there has never been a better time to join. Because each year the APS chooses from many research submissions for graduate and undergraduate students to offer a grant to help pay for college. Through the award program, students should submit their research for consideration for the annual conference – the guidelines for submission are very specific, so be prepared with an abstract and supporting documentation that follow the template provided. The exact amount of the award is not listed, but winning the award carries a certain amount of prestige that is probably just as valuable as the award itself!
