Scholarship Name: California Wine Grape Growers Foundation Scholarship
Description: These very specific scholarship opportunities for future wine makers and grape growers is sponsored by the California Wine Grape Growers Association, a professional association for those who work in vineyards and grape farms in California. The foundation gives away three types of scholarships: $1,000 scholarships for children of association members who will be attending colleges in the California state university system, a similar $500 scholarship for children or grape growers who are attending community college, and finally the Rick Miller Scholarship, for students pursuing a degree (or concentration) in viticulture or enology. The Rick Miller award is reserved for students attending either Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, or Allan Hancock Community College. In addition, the Paso Robles Scholarship is available to students graduating from Paso Robles High School or Shandon High School. Students must be planning to attend either two-year or four-year programs, and carry a minimum of 12 credits per semester.

How to Apply/Contact: Each scholarship requires its own application, which can be found on the California Wine Grape Growers Foundation website; applications must be mailed via snail mail to the address on the website. Students will also need to verify that their parents or guardians have worked on a vineyard during the current grape growing season.

American Society for Enology and Viticulture
Scholarship Name: American Society for Enology and Viticulture Scholarship Program
Description: If you are serious about the study of wine making (viticulture and enology), you should be aware of the American Society for Enology and Viticulture. This national society covers all things enology and viticulture, including coordinating annual conferences and symposiums on all kinds of topics relating to and affecting that production of wine in the United States. Of most interest to those just starting out in the field is the scholarship program, which provides both undergraduate and graduate student with scholarship awards for viticulture and enology study. In addition to a written application, students must provide a list of courses that they plan on taking, as well as two letters of recommendation. There is no specific program or college required to qualify for the scholarship, but students must either be majoring in viticulture and enology or have a declared concentration.
