Scholarship Name: S.W. (Bill) Preston Scholarship
Description: The Washington Wine Industry Foundation considers itself an umbrella organization in the wine industry which, among other things, continually seeks out, compiles and administers academic scholarships for students interested in pursuing careers in viticulture and enology. Because of the concentration of wine industry programs and jobs in Washington State, they have concentrated their efforts in the Northwestern part of the United States. The Foundation currently administers four scholarships (and is always trying to find more), the largest of which is the S.W. (Bill) Preston Scholarship, which awards $3,000 to a high school senior pursuing viticulture and enology studies in Washington State. In addition to this scholarship, the Walter J. Clore scholarship is offered to both high school seniors and currently undergraduate students. The Horse Heaven Hills scholarship is available to undergraduate students as well, with an award of $1,500.

Jimmy Mancbach Memorial Scholarship Foundation
Scholarship Name: Jimmy Mancbach Memorial Scholarship Foundation
Description: The Jimmy Mancbach Memorial Scholarship Foundation offers they type of scholarship you don’t see everyday. Recognizing that non-academic costs can be an equal burden to tuition and room and board, the scholarship offered by the foundation serves to give students of viticulture and enology real world experience. This internship/scholarship programs offers recent graduates and mid-career professionals the chance to work at a winery during the crush season, using the scholarship award for living and housing expenses. The foundation encourages students to gain hands-on experience in the industry, and scholarships are available for up to three and a half months of work.
